The second mistake is flattening before the form is actually complete. A flattened form cannot be updated. If the client comes back and says they made a mistake on field 7, you cannot simply edit that field. You need to go back to the unflattened original, make the correction, and flatten again. Confirm with the submitter that the form is final before you flatten it. A quick one-line email, "I have received your completed form. The third mistake is assuming that all PDF tools flatten the same way.
