How to Add an Image to a PDF

Adding an image to a PDF is useful when you need to insert a logo, stamp, photo, signature image, or any other visual element onto a page. The process is similar across tools โ€” place the image, resize and position it, and save.

WukongPDF's PDF Editor includes an image insertion tool. Upload your PDF, click the Add Image button in the toolbar, and select the image file from your device. The image appears on the page โ€” drag it to the correct position and resize by dragging the corner handles. Apply the same image to multiple pages if needed, then download the updated PDF.

PNG images with transparent backgrounds work particularly well for logos and stamps โ€” the transparency means only the image content appears on the page, without a white box around it covering the underlying text.

How to Add an Image in Adobe Acrobat

In Adobe Acrobat Pro, go to Tools > Edit PDF. Click the Add Image button in the toolbar (it looks like a mountain icon). Select the image file from your computer. Acrobat places the image on the page โ€” drag it into position and use the handles to resize. Right-click the image to access additional options like flipping, rotating, or setting it as a watermark across all pages.

Acrobat supports JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and several other image formats for insertion. For logos and branding elements, PNG is recommended to preserve transparency and sharp edges.

Adding a Company Logo or Stamp to a PDF

Placing a logo or official stamp on a PDF is one of the most common image insertion tasks. Use a PNG version of the logo with a transparent background so it sits cleanly on any page color. Place it in the header or footer area for a professional look, or wherever the document's layout calls for it.

If you need to add the same logo to every page of a multi-page document, look for an Apply to All Pages option in the PDF Editor rather than adding it manually to each page. This keeps the placement consistent and saves significant time on long documents.

Using an Image as a Signature

A common use of PDF image insertion is placing a signature image โ€” a photo of your handwritten signature saved as a PNG with a white or transparent background. Use the image insertion tool to place it on the signature line, resize to match the scale of the document, and save. This produces a visually convincing signed document that works for most everyday signing needs.

For documents where electronic signature verification matters โ€” contracts, legal agreements, compliance paperwork โ€” use a dedicated PDF Sign tool rather than image insertion. The sign tool creates an annotation that carries signing metadata, whereas an image drop is simply a graphic with no verification trail.
